Factor 55 products can be found pretty much anywhere off-road vehicles go. From your local trails and off-road parks, to the most challenging off-road racetracks in the world, racing is a critical space for our company. This is because racing is a great, real-world test bed for our products, and our brand has built a name and reputation based on its performance in competition. Racing lets us put our products through their paces, develop new items, and keep us on the path of innovation and product development. After all, if Factor 55 gear can stand up to the rigors of racing, they’ll stand up to just about anything.
Factor 55 Products: Developed From Racing
A number of our most popular products, such as the UltraHook, were developed because racers told us they needed a solution to a problem. In this instance, racers wanted a way to implement Closed System Winching—a winching technique using rigging comprised of closed-link hardware—while still having a winch hook. Through research, discussions with racers, and precise U.S. engineering and manufacturing, the UltraHook was born. Eventually, a smaller iteration, the UltraHook XTV, debuted for the unique traits of UTVs.
Trusted and Tested by Racers
Countless racers, especially in the Ultra4 space, use Factor 55 products. In fact, every winner of King of the Hammers has been equipped with Factor 55. This includes Kings Randy Slawson, Shannon Campbell, Loren Healy, Tom Wayes, Erik Miller, and more. These racers and their teams trust Factor 55’s products to get their vehicles recovered and across the finish line quickly, reliably, and safely. They know our American-made, U.S.-engineered, and lab-and-field tested products are the top of the heap. From our best-in-the-industry fairleads, recovery straps, HitchLink products, or soft shackles, our gear shows up on racers vehicles all over the globe.
It’s not just Ultra4 racers using Factor 55 products. Desert racer, Bryce Menzies, trusts Factor 55 for his chase and race teams in the famous Baja 1000. Desert and Dakar Rally champion, Casie Currie, uses Factor 55 gear. Our products are also seen in competitions such as the Rainforest Challenge, rock bouncing, and UTV racing to name a few.
No matter the product or racing series, the built-in durability; ability to stand up to any terrain; and the willingness to take the abuses racing doles out makes our products the best. After all, a recovery failure during competition can mean the end of a race. So racers know to go with the best and trust Factor 55.
Innovative New Products Born from Racing
Racing is a great place to spark innovation. Two of our latest products, the HammerLoop and HammerStrap, are born from racing.
HammerLoop offers a super-fast way to rig up a soft shackle to a strap saving racers (and anyone else) valuable time when they need to get out fast. When used in conjunction with our UltraHook, its unique design allows for quick attachment through a wheel, around a roll cage, or via the eyelets of any strap, offering unparalleled rigging versatility. Weighing just 10 ounces, the HammerLoop is lightweight yet incredibly strong, boasting an impressive 27,800lbs. minimum breaking strength (MBS).
The HammerStrap also came from the racing world. Racers were looking for the most durable strap to stand up to abrasive surfaces found on rock racing courses. They asked, we listened. This USA-made 20-ft. anchor strap features innovative polyester single-ply construction wrapped with CORDURA ballistic fabric two thirds of the way up for maximum abrasion resistance. The strap even has a center line visual indicator for quick, hassle-free setup. And while it was born from racing, it’s equally at home in any recovery kit.
Innovative New Products Born from Racing
Weight is the enemy of speed, so we’ve made many of our products as light as they can be while maximizing durability and safety. Speaking of speed, Factor 55 gear is quick and easy to rig, saving racers time when it comes to recovery scenarios and rigging. And since Factor 55 products weigh less than many other companies’ traditional rigging, they also help to reduce the amount of kinetic energy during the winching or recovery process, increasing safety.
Items like soft shackles and aluminum rigging components weigh far less than steel items. So whether it’s our aluminum Rope Retention Pulley or just a recovery kit, Factor 55’s gear is lightweight, easy-to-use, tested, and trusted.
Light. Fast. Safe. That’s the Factor 55 way.
Closed System Winching and Its Importance in Racing
Factor 55’s Closed System Winching ensures as much risk is taken out of the winching equation as possible. This is because all rigging is securely linked together without the ability for it to slip off an open hook, shackle, or anchor point. Racers need to do this quickly, too, and Factor 55 products let them do this, all while being safer during racing scenarios.
The Go-To Recovery Products For Racers
Our racing-to-consumer pipeline ensures Factor 55 products deliver proven performance. Proudly made in the USA, Factor 55’s commitment to safety and innovation has made it the go-to choice for racers who demand the very best. It’s no wonder that Factor 55 is the Official Recovery Gear of Ultra4 Racing and King of the Hammers.
