Different colors, different finish materials
Factor 55 utilizes three kinds of coatings for our products. This includes type-III hard-anodized (black and gray), type-II bright dip anodized (reflective silver and blue), and high-impact polyester powder coat (vivid red, yellow, green, orange, bronze, OD green, and purple). Each one of these colors not only looks great, but helps protect the metal underneath from chemicals, corrosion, and UV to keep Factor 55 products looking awesome for years.

The original Factor 55 gray finish, and why it’s important
You may notice some of our products are only available in gun-metal gray. There’s a good reason for that. All Factor 55 fairleads, Rope Retention Pulleys, and other products subject to frequent abrasion come with a gray MIL-A-8625F Type III class 1 hard-anodized finish. This coating delivers the ultimate in abrasion resistance and is one of the top five hardest materials known to exist! So, choosing the classic Factor 55 gun-metal gray is more than a cosmetic choice. It’s the absolute most durable mil-spec finish available, designed to hold up against years of abrasion and heavy use.
Markings are applied with ultra-durable laser engraving, giving you maximum longevity and resistance to fading.
